Mölkkout

A Mölkkout - sometimes also called a Mölkkyout - is a play off decision, for example to determine who should start the next game.

The skittles 7, 9, 11, 12, 10 and 8 are placed in a straight line. The space between the skittles should be about the length of two dowels*. It is thrown with normal distance from the molkaari.

The rules are simple:

  • Every player throws twice.
  • Fallen skittles are set back to their starting position.
  • Points are counted as usual.

The team with the most points wins.

In case of a tie break, each player receives one more throw.

* There is no official worldwide agreement in regard to this distance. Here, the "best practice" in Germany is described. Mölkky players in Finland for instance have only one dowel distance as their  "best practice". We kindly thank Mr. Olivier Allain from Helsinki for his input on the matter!!
